Child evacuee killed by an unmarked mine
26th June, 1941
Ronald Munting was a friend of Harry Dale, evacuated from the same area of London, and both boys died tragically when they detonated an unmarked mine on the beach at Gunwalloe.
Ronald was born in Middlesex in May 1932, and in 1939 his residence is given as the All Saints Girl House in St Albans, which was the location to which a London-based hospital school was evacuated at the start of World War 2. There seems to be no record of when Ronald moved from here to Cornwall. The headstone also commemorates his parents who it says were killed during the London Blitz.
