Zachary lived first with his parents, and after their deaths with his older siblings, at Railway Villas in West Phillack, until he married Florence, 18 years his junior, in 1903. Dr Zachary Mudge had close associations with Phillack church, and fulfilled the role of Churchwarden there for many years, and is also noted as one of the vice-presidents of the Hayle Model Yacht club in 1908. His sister, Miss Lizzie Mudge, also lived in Hayle.
He was aged 76 when he passed away, and his funeral was well attended. A local press-clipping reflects on his extensive contribution to the local community through his professional and personal roles.
