We will take a bunch of white roses - the colour of the cross on the Cornish flag - along to the quayside in Hayle that commemorates the Cornish origins of this hero, or a bunch of flowers grown in Cornwall (when available). Alternatively, we can leave a painted 'Cornish' themed stone, to celebrate this Cornishman who lived abroad but never forgot his roots.

Rick was working as the Vice President of Security for Morgan Stanley/Dean-Witter during the World Trade Towers terrorist attack. He is credited for helping to save the lives of 2683 of the company's employees who were working in World Trade Tower no. 2, when the terrorist incident unfolded. Rick was last seen in a 10th floor stairwell, helping others to evacuate, but his remains were not recovered.
The location of his birthplace in Hayle is commemorated by a small blue plaque, and there is a memorial to him across the road, near the waterside. The full story of his life can be found at:
